Warning: Heavy rain, flash floods

The Meteorological Department on Friday issued a warning for people in the North, Central Plains, East and upper parts of the South to prepare for widespread scattered rain with heavy falls in some areas and the danger of floods today and tomorrow.
People living near hillsides and waterways in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang, Tak, Kampaengphet, Petchabun, Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Petchburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Pang Nga and Ranong should prepare for flash flooding, it warned.
Due to the prevailing southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, there will also be strong wind-generated 2 to 3-metre-high waves in the Andaman Sea. All shipping should proceed with caution, the department said.
